As companies move to newer systems due to changing business conditions, old systems are decommissioned while open transactions and recent data may be migrated; however, data which is not migrated may still require retention. Generally, organizations will choose to leave the inactive application, along with its data store, in a read-only mode with limited user access. The problem with this approach is, it requires the overhead of maintaining the underlying system including, the hardware, software, operating system and administrators.
PathFinder allows companies to access data from their live or decommissioned applications, in a read-only manner. Users are able to view the data using Business Objects in a format similar to the native application.
